What streaming access really means
Opening a website, seeing a title and starting playback are three different checks.
Streaming platforms generally use your exit IP, account region, content licensing and device environment to determine what you can browse and play. What people call “unlocking” usually means the platform identifies the connection as coming from a supported region and allows the account to play titles licensed there. It does not include a platform membership, nor does it mean the same title has the same subtitles, dubbing or video quality in every region.
Cross-border routes affect the path your network connection takes. SpaVPN subscriptions and memberships to platforms such as Netflix and Disney+ are separate; platform access remains subject to its account, plan and local-use rules. A page loading successfully only confirms that this web request worked—it does not mean every title on the platform will play. A better check is to open the specific title you want to watch, confirm that playback is available, and see whether it continues normally after starting.
Platforms may change their region-detection rules, how they classify exit IPs and their licensing arrangements. The same route may also produce different results at different times, so this page does not guarantee a specific library or permanent access. Judge whether a route works for streaming based on your current account, the specific title and actual playback—not just the region label in a node name.
Regional availability checklist
The steps below show how to verify availability; they are not a list of tested, supported platforms. The available facts do not include playback results for each platform and region.
| Platform | Region to check | Availability | Suggested route | Check before playback |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Netflix | Region of the target library | Not verified; check after connecting | A relay or IEPL route in the target region; compare actual playback | Whether the specific title plays and your account's video-quality benefits |
| Disney+ | A region where the platform currently offers service | Not verified; check after connecting | Exit route in the target region; avoid switching frequently during playback | Service availability, account region and title licensing |
| HBO Max | Use the platform's current service regions as the reference | Not verified; check after connecting | Routes in the relevant service region; compare relay and dedicated routes | Local product name, membership and app availability |
| Hulu | US service and account eligibility | Not verified; check after connecting | Candidate US exit routes; verify by playing a title | Account eligibility and household-location rules |
| YouTube Premium | Membership region and travel rules | Not verified; check after connecting | Exit in a region that complies with account rules | Membership benefits and regional restrictions on the specific video |
| Prime Video | Account region and title licensing region | Not verified; check after connecting | Stable exit route that matches the target service region | Included titles and titles that require separate payment |
| BBC iPlayer | UK service availability | Not verified; first confirm a matching route is available | Verify only if the panel has a UK exit route | Local viewing eligibility and platform requirements |
About regions: The regions in this table indicate what to check on each platform; they do not mean SpaVPN has confirmed support for any specific platform in those regions. Coverage across 100+ countries and 240+ routes does not replace playback verification for each platform.
When checking nodes, first confirm that the target region is available in your user panel, then see whether the platform accepts that route's exit IP. If the route details do not specify its purpose or IP type, do not assume it is dedicated to streaming. IEPL, relay and direct connections describe network paths, not platform licensing status; choosing a dedicated route does not bypass account eligibility or content-licensing checks.
Keep a record of the route you started with, then compare other candidate routes in the same region. Keep the device, app, title and local network unchanged where possible so you can tell whether the route itself affects playback. If the library changes after switching regions, search for the title again rather than judging by a playback link left open from the previous region.
Native IPs vs. residential IPs
Geographic registration, network use and sharing are separate characteristics.
Native IP: typically refers to geographic registration
“Native IP” is not a standardized certification term. It is commonly used when an IP address's registration details, geolocation databases and actual exit region appear to match. Databases may update at different rates, and platforms may use their own criteria. A lookup showing the target region does not prove that every streaming platform will identify it the same way—or that a particular library will play.
Residential IP: typically refers to the access network type
A residential IP usually means an address identified as belonging to a residential broadband network, rather than a data center. It may still be affected by the platform's IP reputation checks, account-location rules or usage policies. Residential status and dedicated use are also different things: a shared IP can be residential, while a dedicated IP may belong to a data center. These terms are not interchangeable.
SpaVPN's published facts do not promise native, residential or dedicated IPs, so this page does not label any route as one of these products. When choosing a route, check the actual region, currently available routes and playback results. If your use case depends on a specific IP characteristic, confirm it through a support ticket in the user panel instead of inferring it from a route name.
Bandwidth for 4K and Dolby Vision
Sustained throughput, jitter and device decoding matter more to viewing quality than a speed test's peak result.
There is no single bandwidth threshold for 4K that applies to every platform and title. Video encoding, frame rate, image complexity and platform compression all affect the actual bitrate. Check the target platform's current official help documentation for specific requirements, then see whether quality stays stable during continuous playback. A brief speed-test peak does not mean the connection can maintain the same throughput during peak hours or throughout an entire title.
Before playback, pause large background downloads and check whether your local Wi-Fi is congested. Then compare candidate routes under the same conditions. If the picture starts clear but becomes blurry, or buffers repeatedly while web pages still load, sustained throughput may be insufficient or the connection may be fluctuating. If only one device has the problem, also check its Wi-Fi signal, app version, decoding capability and power settings rather than assuming the exit region is at fault.
Dolby Vision is a format related to image dynamic range; sufficient bandwidth alone does not enable it. The title must be available in that format, your platform membership must include the relevant benefits, and the app, playback device, display and connection path must all be compatible. External displays may also be affected by content protection and port capabilities. First check the format listed in the title details, then confirm device compatibility, and finally check whether the network is causing a downgrade.
If the platform provides playback statistics, check the resolution, buffering and dropped frames during continuous playback. If there is no statistics menu, compare how the same title plays continuously over different routes. Changing only the route while keeping other conditions the same makes it easier to identify the cause than repeatedly switching devices, regions and apps.
Common errors and what to check first
Similar messages can mean different things on different platforms. Save the full message first, then troubleshoot by likely cause.
VPN, Proxy or proxy-detection warning
This usually means the platform has classified the current exit as a proxy, or detected a connection setting it does not accept. Close the app and make sure only the intended network tool is active, then try another route in the same region and reopen the app to check playback. Do not enable multiple proxy configurations at once. If no candidate route in that region works, submit a support ticket. Platform detection can change, and switching routes once is no guarantee of recovery.
“This service is not available in your region” or no play button for a title
First confirm that the platform offers service in the target region and that the title is licensed there. Then check that the exit and account regions meet the requirements. An existing session may retain information about a previous region; sign out and reopen the app using the platform's official instructions. Do not clear all app data just to troubleshoot, as this could remove offline downloads or require you to authenticate again.
Network timeout, connection failure or repeated buffering
First check whether regular webpages load, then confirm the client connection, subscription status and available data. If only the target platform is affected, compare another route in the same region. If all services are affected, check your local network and client settings first. If buffering happens only during peak hours, retest with another route or a different local network.
DRM, HDCP or protected-content playback error
These messages usually involve content protection, browser components, app authorization or an external display connection; changing the exit route alone may not fix them. Use an app or browser supported by the platform, and check for updates and display compatibility. If regular content plays but protected titles do not, follow the platform's help-center instructions for the specific error code.
The same error code persists after changing routes
Error-code meanings can vary by platform, device and app version; this page does not attribute any particular code to a route failure. Submit a support ticket through the user panel with the platform name, full error message, device operating system, route name, and whether the error occurs during sign-in, loading or playback. Redact account details from screenshots. Do not include passwords, full subscription links or payment credentials.
Streaming routes and plan data
Test the title you want to watch first, then choose a data allowance based on viewing habits and shared use.
Monthly plans: ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, and ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on the activation date; mid-cycle upgrades are prorated for the remaining days. Data add-ons: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB and ¥658/3000GB. They remain available until used and never expire. Actual data use depends on the platform's bitrate, video quality and viewing time, so capacity cannot be converted into a fixed number of viewing hours.
SpaVPN supports unlimited devices, but devices sharing a plan also share its data allowance and the available bandwidth of the local connection. Simultaneous viewing by family members, background syncing and large downloads can all affect playback. Check data usage in the client or user panel and adjust how you use the connection as needed. Unlimited devices does not mean a platform membership allows unlimited simultaneous streams; each platform sets its own rules.
Clients are available for Windows / macOS / iOS / Android / Linux. Get the client and subscription details in the user panel. No email address is required; create an account with a username and password. SpaVPN offers anonymous, no-logs service and a 60-day no-questions-asked refund, and supports Alipay / WeChat Pay / USDT. These service details do not guarantee access to a particular title, video quality or platform membership benefits.
Before choosing a route, read about the differences between direct, relay and IEPL routes. When comparing plans, consider whether the data cycle fits your usage. Streaming depends on the network, account and device meeting the relevant requirements. Checking these factors separately is usually more effective than frequently switching regions.
